Beyond war lies peace. Beyond peace lies war. So what is in between the two? There lies the SPACE I’ve been thinking about! It may be in that space where what is beyond both war and peace lives. The state of nothing-at-all.
Sometimes even thinking of peace seems to bring conflict. Because it is one end of the duality of peace and war. But, between the two, there exists no duality. It just is what it is.
In politics, there are doves and hawks. In the space between them there is just the sky. I always feel calm when I lie back and look up at the sky. Day or night, it is always the same. The sky is one reason I like living in California. There is plenty of room on the ground to view the whole thing while standing here on planet Earth.
Tony,
Our World is a better place because we have Tony Anthony...dealing and facing inevitable conflict with as big of a heart as possible, while striving to be centered so as leading others away from conflict toward the appreciation of the beauty we do share on Earth.
Thanks, for your California Dreams. It is true, and I appreciate the reminder. Others elsewhere may not know of the validity, and even deride it as a West Coast flake. The natural wonders of the State is in the mix, but whichever came first, I attributed the very progressive outlook of the people as allowing these senses of hope to flourish. Glad you recognize the 'Love Power'. Thanks again for the vivid reminders.
Posted by: LonghairSteve on March 27, 2004 01:52 AMThe sky does have that effect, one night I couldn't sleep and I went outside and photographed the sky. I have been feeling somewhat detatched from the conflicts I'm hearing and reading in the news these days. I've thought about that detachment, whether there is something wrong with that. But I think it is coming to that place and realizing compassion does not have to go hand in hand with attachment. I think were often so habituated as coming to compassion in a way that is more obsessive...But of course this is probably easier to say as a person who is living far away from some of these horrible conflicts.
