It takes tremendous energy to nourish and maintain hatred. One really has to work at hating in order to be successful at hatred.

Because we must invest so much energy and concentrated attention in hating, when we hate someone, we give them far more control over us and over our lives than we might realize or welcome. The person we hate becomes a major focus of our time, our energy and our attention.

I have no interest in allowing anyone else to become that kind of focus in my life or to give anyone that kind of control over my thoughts and actions.

Personally speaking, I don't have enough time, attention or energy to be willing or able to waste a single bit on nourishing a hatred. Life is just too short for that.
